WANDERING FLÂNEUSE
ABOUT
Hi, my name is Katie, I am a freelance writer who is 25. I have recently quit my job, packed and moved out of my home to consciously take a break from my former life in order to float around South East Asia. I wish to expand my perspective and decline the socially conditioned narrative that enforces one to abide to the office life and climb the career ladder. I am putting that life on hold in order to move to the beat of my internal drum, which I believe due to the hectic noise of external forces, has been temporarily muted. This has now changed, as I have officially unleashed myself from my former mundane day-to-day timetable to embrace new surroundings. My main objective? To float the streets, observe society and culture, wander mindfully, embracing new features and nuances shown to me. Through this blog, I invite you to pursue flanerie with me.

The Flâneuse ‘manifests itself in theme, atmosphere, and subject matter, but even more profoundly in a mode of perception attuned modern urban life, in a new sensation of seeing’
Katherine Golsan, ‘The Beholder as flâneur: Structures of Perception in Baudelaire and Manet’, 1996.

WANDER THROUGH MUSIC
I have created a playlist that features a compilation of artists whose music has floated down streets with me. I will add new tracks on a weekly basis, and any recommendations are welcome. Take a wander through these tracks, wherever you are.
